Building Energy Rating (BER)
Building Energy Rating or BER is similar to the energy label on your fridge scaling from A-G. From the 1st January 2007 all new houses have to have a BER label. January 1st 2009 will see the introduction of BER labels for all existing houses.
Insulation
The most cost effective way to improve the thermal performance of your home or office is to ensure that the roof, walls and floors are adequately insulated.
In an average home, heat is lost as shown in the image ‘routes of heat escape’.
Home Energy Audit
Cedar Sustainable offers a Home Energy Audit, as a basic alternative to the full BER certificate. The audit is a less costly alternative to a full BER and its findings have already helped customers to reduce their energy bill, along with their carbon footprint.
Infra Red Building Diagnostics
Thermal imaging (infrared imaging) measures thermal energy emitted from an object. This technology detects construction failures such as heat loss, humidity and air leaks. A full report not only enables you to improve your energy performance of the house – it may indicate areas of mould which are not only a danger to the building structure but also a risk for the health.
Energy Management Solution (EMS)
Explore energy saving opportunities for your home, home office or your company. Cedar Sustainable offers the leading solution ‘Bye Bye Standby®’ to cut down on your energy costs.
Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV)
Heat recovery is a ventilation system that employs a counter-flow heat exchanger between the inbound and outbound air flow. HRV provide fresh air and improved climate control, while also saving energy by reducing the heating requirements. This system is particularly suited to Airtight Houses.
Grants available!
Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) is the body in charge of the ‘Greener Homes Scheme’. The scheme is designed to provide financial support for homeowners buying renewable energy heating systems.
